International Shipping: Tariffs, Duties and Fees

International shipping through LVK sends your orders to customers outside the origin country using our carrier partners. Duties, customs values, and VAT rules are handled differently than domestic orders, so review the requirements below before you sell internationally.

Important

International shipments have these limits:

  • Door-to-door tracking is not guaranteed.
  • Transit can take up to 45 days.
  • Return to Sender is not available.
  • Merchants file their own international carrier claims.

Table of Contents

Delivery Duty Unpaid (DDU) on LVK International Shipments

LVK ships international orders DDU (Delivery Duty Unpaid) by default. With DDU, customs contacts your customer when the shipment arrives, and the customer pays any customs charges to release it.

Tell your customers about duties before they buy. Most shoppers don't expect a customs bill after checkout, and an unexpected charge often leads to a refused package or a support complaint.

DDU Service Limits on LVK International Shipments

  • Expedited service: not available for international shipments.
  • Returns: LVK does not process international returns.

Delivery Duties Paid (DDP) with Passport

DDP (Delivery Duty Paid) means duties and taxes are collected upfront instead of billed to your customer on delivery. LVK offers DDP to select countries through our partner Passport.

To enable DDP, open a support ticket to request Passport. Support confirms which destination countries are eligible for your account.

Customs Fees and Declared Values for International Orders

The declared customs value is the value you assign to a product for customs clearance. Enter an accurate value for every product you ship internationally. LVK does not evaluate, check, or verify declared customs values, so incorrect values can hold a shipment at customs.

See International Product Requirements to add a customs value to your products.

VAT Requirements for UK and EU Shipping

VAT (Value Added Tax) is a consumption tax the UK and EU charge on imported goods. The EU VAT eCommerce package sets the registration and collection rules that apply to your international orders.
