Dropshipping

Dropshipping is an order fulfillment method where you accept customer orders without keeping stock on hand. LVK supports two approaches, and which one you use determines whether LVK touches the product at all.

  1. Dropship as a Service: LVK stocks and ships the products for you as a supplement to your DTC shipping, acting as your drop shipper.
  2. Dropship-only products: You mark the products an outside dropshipping service fulfills, so LVK never ships them.

Dropship as a Service with LVK

With Dropship as a Service, LVK picks, packs, and ships your dropship orders from warehouse stock. Setting it up works like this:

  • Your onboarding rep enables your dropship account. If you're past onboarding, open a support ticket to request it.
  • Once enabled, LVK knows which products to pick and pack at the warehouse.
  • A dropship order fee is added to your fulfillment agreement.
  • You choose whether orders ship on LVK shipping labels or your own.

How to Mark Products as Dropship-Only in LVK

A dropship-only product is one LVK does not fulfill. Marking it tells LVK to leave the item alone so an outside service can ship it.

  1. Go to Products in your LVK portal.
  2. Select the product you want to mark.
  3. Select the Dropship Only checkbox on the right side of the page.
  4. Select Save.

What Happens After You Mark a Product Dropship-Only

The product no longer appears to the LVK warehouse team, so nobody picks or packs it. Your order flow is unaffected, and orders containing the product are not set to backorder even when LVK holds no stock for it.

Dropship-Only Products Inside Kits

Marking a kit as dropship-only does not carry over to its components. When a kit contains a component that isn't marked dropship-only, LVK ships that component. To stop it from shipping, either mark every component dropship-only or remove the component from the kit.

Important

When you fulfill a kit through an outside service, but leave one component unmarked, the customer receives that component twice: once from LVK and once from you. Confirm every component is marked dropship-only before the first order comes in.
