SKUs Associated with Multiple Shopify Products

Every product you sell needs its own unique SKU. An item sold in four colors needs four SKUs, one per color, so LVK can track inventory and pick the right item for each order. When two Shopify listings share a SKU, inventory counts and picking both become unreliable.

Creating New Products in Shopify

Create each new product from your Shopify store's product page. This gives the product a clean SKU with no existing inventory history attached to it.

Important

Duplicating a product in Shopify copies the original SKU, which disrupts the inventory already tracked against that SKU. Create the new product from scratch instead.

How to Find SKUs with Multiple Shopify Listings

When more than one Shopify listing shares a SKU, this message appears on the Products page in the LVK app:

We found XX products with SKUs associated with multiple Shopify Products

  1. Select See products with multiple listings to open the list of affected SKUs.
  2. Update those SKUs in your Shopify store so each listing has its own unique SKU.
